What sort of application should I send and how should I send it?

After you’ve read through the Position Description (found on our website), we prefer to receive emailed applications to careers@cbm.org.au . However, if you would prefer to send a hard copy, these can be sent to PO Box 348, Box Hill, Victoria, 3128.

Apart from your resume, which should be a succinct account of your employment, education and experience (written references and copies of education results are unnecessary), we would love to know why you would like to work for us. Look at the competencies we have outlined in the Position Description, and address them with your own experiences and background.
Our aim is to respond to you within 14 days of the closing date of applications. If you have been unsuccessful in gaining an interview, you will be sent an email outlining that fact. If you have been shortlisted, and selected for interview, we will contact you by telephone to arrange an interview. At times we may conduct phone interviews to help us select the most appropriate candidates for interview. If this is to occur, we will contact you, and may make an alternative time to talk.

What can I expect at the interview?

This is an opportunity for you to interview us, as much as it is for us to interview you! This is the time for you to tell us about your background, work experience, and what brought you to CBM.

Does cbm conduct reference checks?

Yes, CBM conducts reference checks for candidates. We will ask your permission before we ring referees, and we will only contact those referees you have named on your application or given us at interview.

What about salary?

CBM does not publish salary ranges with advertisements for positions, but we are very happy to discuss this over the phone when you are considering applying for a role. Salary ranges will depend upon your skills and experience and what you bring to the role.

As a not-for-profit, CBM seeks to remunerate team members to the 25th percentile of market rates. We also offer salary packaging, which increases the take home income.

Career paths

While CBM is a medium sized organisation, we aim to give employees a solid raft of training, to be used at CBM and beyond.

You may come to us at the beginning of your career or toward the end of your working life - when you can “give back” with your experience and background, or somewhere in between. Our commitment to our teams is to provide them with the skills they need – from MS packages, Project Management and OHS, through to specialist training and leadership skills for managers.

CBM understands that ongoing training and development are critical to the organisation moving forward. Managers invite their team members to discuss their personal and professional training needs at least once a year, and implement a training and development plan.

Your manager will also give you regular feedback on your performance through twice yearly performance reviews, and at any other time when needed or appropriate. This is done in a positive and constructive way.

Diversity

All CBM employees are required to uphold the principles of anti-discrimination in all dealings with current and prospective employees. No employment-related decision or action will be made on the basis of race, gender or disability.

CBM also encourages people with disabilities to apply for positions.
