Churches where everyone belongs!

Luke14 is a CBM initiative aimed at equipping churches to welcome and include people with disabilities.

Church communities are formed by the inclusive welcome of Jesus, and are places where people from all backgrounds meet equally ‘under the cross’.

Jesus had a particular concern for people marginalised by disability.

In Luke 14, he charges the church to continue his commitment to their inclusion.

His promise is that blessing will flow both ways, as his holy spirit works through the gifts he has given every member.

We can make a significant difference to the lives and faith of people living with a disability, and their lives and faith can impact and deepen us.

The importance of natural networks of friendship and support in the lives of people and families living with disability can’t be overstated.

Yet while most Australians living with disability lack involvement in a caring church family, most churches lack active ministry that welcomes and includes them, making our churches places where every person is appreciated and belongs is an urgent task for the Australian Christian community.

Such a ministry will enable us to be signposts to a watching world, of the good news of God’s welcome to us all in Jesus.
