Edith turns 100 – A life of generosity and joy
Stories | December 1, 2025
On Saturday, 4 October, Edith’s family gathered to mark an incredible milestone in style. Surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Edith enjoyed a day filled with love, laughter and gratitude.

Her granddaughter shared these beautiful words with us:
‘It’s not every day your grandmother turns 100, but this Saturday 4 October we’re gathering our extended family together to celebrate my Nanna Edith’s 100th birthday.
‘Nan wasn’t interested in getting a telegram from the King to celebrate (though she would have been happy to get one from Queen Elizabeth), but we wanted to mark the day in a way that was special. My mum contacted 27 different charities that Nanna contributes to and has done for decades, and a number of those organisations have sent cards thanking her for her generosity and wishing her well on her milestone birthday.
Edith officially turned 100 on 7 October 2025. A mother of two, grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of 12 (with another on the way in 2026), Edith still lives independently at home and only gave up driving last year.
Her story is one of kindness, commitment and community. For 30 years, Edith has partnered with CBM to help transform the lives of people with disabilities living in poverty. Her generosity has made a lasting impact, and her milestone birthday reminds us of the power of one person’s dedication to making the world a better place.
From all of us at CBM Australia: Happy 100th Birthday, Edith! Thank you for your incredible support and for inspiring us all.
