Reflect with us
Reflect on how Isaiah 40’s call to ‘Prepare the Way’ invites us to remove barriers and create a community where everyone can experience God’s presence.
Advent invites us to sit in promises not yet fulfilled, just as God’s people waited 400 years for His presence to return. We hold the value of inclusion and accessibility, yet long for their complete fulfilment.
In Luke 3, John the Baptist called people to prepare for God’s presence through repentance and by producing fruit with acts of justice, generosity, and humility.
In Luke 4, Jesus begins His ministry by declaring Himself the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy, sent to bring good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, sight for the blind, and liberation for the marginalized.
Pray with us
Dear Lord God,
Please help us to prepare this Advent season, as we celebrate the coming of your presence in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you that you are community, that you are love, and that you want to come and dwell with us.
May we welcome and love people who are marginalised and on the edges of community.
Help us to recognise barriers that prevent people with disabilities from being fully integrated into our communities and help us to remove them.
We thank you so much for your coming, amen.
Dear God,
We thank you that you came to live in community with us and to bring all people into community with you.
Help us to uphold inclusion and accessibility for all people with disabilities.
Show us the steps we can take to fulfil our values of inclusion and accessibility for all people,
Amen.
Lord God,
We thank you for the coming of your presence and that you bring goodness into the world and into our lives. Show us ways that we can produce fruit.
Bless CBM as we reach out to those who are marginalized and transform the lives of people with disabilities who live in poverty.
Amen.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you have come.
Thank you that you are the way and that your way gives people freedom for all people.
Help us to participate in your way and to remove barriers so that people with disabilities have opportunities to fully participate in their community.
Help us to remember you this Christmas, Amen.
We’d like to pray with you through and beyond Advent.
