We have a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and passionate Communications Specialist to join CBM Australia.

The Communications Specialist role is a part of CBM Australia’s Policy and Advocacy team. This position requires a candidate with a passion for human rights, news, politics, who thrives in dynamic environments and brings strong skills in communications strategy and reaching various audiences. They will work with colleagues across the organisation to ideate and plan, will project manage the delivery of key communications content packages, while also working independently to research, write and produce accurate and timely proactive or reactive content to publicise CBMA’s advocacy and international programs work.

The successful applicant will:

  • Ideate, write, and develop content to promote CBM’s advocacy and international programs.
  • Manage end-to-end campaigns, including stakeholder coordination and external partnerships.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent, high-quality content delivery.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to boost CBM’s profile through media and campaigns.

Specific outcomes required:

  • Passionate about human rights, news, and politics.
  • Thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Experience in managing projects or campaigns with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Strong communicator with a strategic mindset and a flair for storytelling.
  • Comfortable working in a faith-based organisation.

About you

The successful applicant will bring the following:

  • Excellent communication and written skills, including strong ability to write for different audiences, editing and proof-reading, content design, as well as the ability to negotiate changes clearly and effectively with authors.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience working on and contributing to the management of organisation-wide projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrated proactive attitude with an ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Brings creative thinking and new ideas to support the achievement of objectives.
  • Commitment to CBM’s mission and values.
  • A willingness to contribute to the growth and development of CBM and its work.
  • Experience working in or demonstrated understanding of international development and or disability equity and rights (desirable).

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification or demonstrated experience in a communications discipline.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences.
  • Proven experience managing campaigns and working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative thinking and adaptability.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and social media strategies.
  • Understanding of disability rights or international development (desirable).
  • Experience with Canva and Jira (desirable).
