Standing alongside communities affected by flooding in Nepal
Stories | Published: August 27, 2026 | Updated: August 29, 2026
On 26 August devastating flash floods struck communities in north-central Nepal causing significant damage and over 150 people are confirmed to have died and many more are missing. Homes, roads and vital infrastructure have been swept away, and rescue efforts continue as families wait for news of loved ones.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this disaster. We stand in solidarity with communities facing loss, uncertainty and the difficult days ahead.
We are in close communication with our team in Nepal and local partners. Based on the latest update, our country team members and partners are safe. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely as Government authorities and other agencies assess the damage and impact of the flood.
In times of disaster, people with disabilities are four times more likely to die as they are too often left behind and forgotten. As this situation unfolds, we ask you to keep affected communities, and especially people with disabilities, in your thoughts and prayers.
How can I help?
As the full impact of this disaster continues to emerge, one way to support affected communities right now is through prayer. Please join us in praying for:
- Families and communities grieving the loss of loved ones, homes and livelihoods following the flooding.
- First responders, local organisations and all those working on the ground, for wisdom, resilience and the resources they need to serve their communities.
- People with disabilities, that they will be seen, included and receive the support they need.
- Comfort for those who mourn, strength for those responding, and hope for communities beginning the long journey of recovery.
- For those facing loss, fear and uncertainty will know comfort, strength and hope in the days ahead.
CBM has launched an emergency appeal in response to the devastating floods. To support the Nepal Flood Emergency Appeal, donate online or call 1800 678 069.
