In October last year the Australian Government made the disappointing decision to cut the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s central disability allocation by 25%. These cruel cuts come at a time when COVID-19 has catastrophically impacted the lives of people with disabilities.
We believe the Australian Government can and should do more, and that a #BetterWorldForAll is possible. But it requires investment!
We are calling on the Australian Government to increase the central disability allocation to a minimum of $14m per annum, representing just 0.35% of Australia’s total aid spend.
Join us by signing our petition calling to restore and increase funding for disability inclusive development in Australia’s aid program.
The government will hand down the federal budget in May, and we need as many signatures as possible before then to show them that this issue matters.
