In May the Australian Government ignored calls to reverse the 25% cut made last year to the central disability allocation within the Australian Aid budget. At a time when COVID-19 continues to catastrophically impact the lives of people with disabilities, now is the time to step up our commitment.
4,479 PEOPLE HAVE SIGNED THE PETITION AND COUNTING
In October last year the Australian Government made the disappointing decision to cut the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s central disability allocation by 25%. In May, our calls to reverse these cruel cuts were ignored.
We believe the Australian Government can and should do more, and that a #BetterWorldForAll is possible. But it requires investment!
We are calling on the Australian Government to increase the central disability allocation to a minimum of $14m per annum, representing just 0.35% of Australia’s total aid spend. Join us by signing our petition calling to restore and increase funding for disability inclusive development in Australia’s aid program.
We will continue lobbying our government and political leaders, and we need as many signatures as possible before then to show them that this issue matters.
