Between 2022 and 2025, CBM Australia implemented a project to strengthen the resilience of people with disabilities and their families in Dhanusha District, Nepal. Working in a region highly vulnerable to climate change, the project combined disability inclusion, livelihood support, climate-smart agriculture and local systems strengthening to help build more inclusive and resilient communities.

The end of project evaluation found that the project increased awareness of disability rights, improved access to essential services, expanded livelihood opportunities and strengthened local capacity for climate resilience. Through 48 Self-Help Groups, 404 people with disabilities obtained disability identification cards, improving access to government services and social protection. Livelihood activities reached 350 people with disabilities and family members, while local governments developed plans to guide inclusive disaster risk reduction and climate resilience efforts.

This summary highlights the project’s key achievements, lessons learned and priorities for the next phase of programming.
