As extreme poverty grows for the first time in decades, fuelled by both the worsening climate crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, Australia’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) program is more crucial than ever. In 2022, the Australian Government made it clear disability inclusion is central to the ODA program, and restored core disability funding. With almost half of all the children with disabilities live in the Asia-Pacific region, Australia plays a significant role in ensuring that people with disabilities are included in all development efforts.
