World Refugee Day 2022 Statement by CEO Jane Edge

This year, World Refugee Day focuses on the right to seek safety. At CBM, we are acutely aware that it has never been more important to bring global attention to those fleeing conflict or persecution and their basic right to feel protected and safe.
Sadly, there are 24.6 million refugees across the world and more than 53 million displaced within their countries. And we know that among these, people with disabilities are the most vulnerable.
CBM’s Inclusion Advisory Group (IAG) is actively working with other INGOs to ensure the inclusion of people with disabilities in their humanitarian response activities. Together we’re ensuring education, livelihoods, water, and hygiene services are accessible to and inclusive of people with disabilities.
More recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has added additional complexities, and as the challenges persist and continue to evolve, CBM is committed to ending the cycle of poverty and disability in some of the poorest communities on earth.
