Rebuilding livelihoods after the Nepal earthquake

When CBM Australia first heard about Man, he had just sustained a significant spinal injury in the 2015 earthquake in Nepal, resulting in the use of a wheelchair. CBM and a partner organisation worked with Man to create a new livelihood in egg farming using appropriate inclusive technology. The newly installed chicken house allows Man to keep 250 hens and over 200 eggs a day, guaranteeing a good income for Man and his family. Man is able to control water distribution through accessible levers, meaning he can play a role in the business as well as maintaining the finances.
In addition to providing the chicken coop structure and technical support, CBM also funded the construction of an accessible toilet and shower and the provision of a wheelchair. This has provided some stability and hope for Man and for his family.
