COVID-19 Nepal Story

To protect their staff and do their part to #flattenthecurve the CBM Nepal Country office staff have all been working from home. Rita oversees the mental health projects for Nepal – an area that only grows in importance as daily life and access to essential services are impacted by COVID-19.
Nepal shares borders with India and China and this has her worried. ‘Its total lockdown here and the government have announced punishments for leaving home’. It’s hard, but she knows just how important it is to prevent from spreading infection, ‘yes the situation is getting panic’ she shared via skype yesterday ‘but for Nepal, it is even more challenging due to the low resource setting’.
CBM Australia is already working with all of our partners to support them in using their skills and networks to ensure no one is left behind at a time like this. Evidence shows that people with a disability are disproportionally affected during times of crisis and we need to work together to guarantee that the rights and needs of people with disability is not forgotten during this difficult time.
