Far too many children with disabilities, like Camille, live in extreme poverty.
This double disadvantage can steal away so much from their childhood – going to school and playing with friends.

Six-year-old Camille used to race through her schoolwork so fast, her teacher created extra activities just for her.
Camille even won two awards: top student and best language speaker!
But that was before the accident.
One afternoon, Camille came home in tears after being hit in the eye during a game with friends. It seemed minor at first. But weeks later, a cataract began to cloud her vision.
Her teacher noticed Camille squinting and shielding her eye during lessons. She moved Camille’s desk away from the sunlight, but she still struggled to see the blackboard.
Now, even playing outside causes Camille so much pain that she keeps one eye squeezed shut.
Without surgery, Camille’s pain will continue and her sight will keep fading. If her developing brain loses the ability to ‘see’, she could stay blind forever.
Camille’s mother Chido sells sweets to support the family – but it’s not enough to pay for the specialist surgery her daughter desperately needs.
