While Sombiniaina’s parents knew something was wrong with their little girl’s eye, they didn’t realise just how much danger she was in.
It was only when a CBM Partner Outreach Eye Doctor arrived in their village that they understood what was wrong.
When he saw little Sombiniaina, our Eye Doctor pulled out his Arclight and quickly discovered that Sombiniaina had a cancerous eye tumour called retinoblastoma.
Without urgent eye surgery, she would die.
Her parents were horrified, and desperate for help. With their full permission and prayers, we operated – and removed Sombiniaina’s tumorous eye. That’s why her left eye looks closed.
