Stories | March 19, 2018

In 2018, CBM CEO Jane Edge travelled to Ethiopia and recorded this video explaining the critical role that water supply plays in preventing blindness.

Video transcription

Hi, I’m Jane Edge, the Chief Executive of CBM Australia and I’m here in Ethiopia seeing our Sight-Saving programmes on the ground.

You might wonder what a water supply has to do with preventing blindness but actually personal hygiene, latrines and clean, safe water are critical to stopping the spread of trachoma, which is a huge problem in Ethiopia, and when it’s left untreated, it leads to blindness. So it’s wonderful to visit these ladies and see how much this well is making a difference in their lives and the entire community.
