About the role

We have a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and driven Risk and Compliance Manager to join CBM Australia.

Reporting to the Director of Capability and Business Performance, you will form a part of the management team within the Business Operations department.

You will:

Oversee the compliance and risk ecosystem at CBM Australia.

  • Monitor changes to regulatory obligations, socialise changes with relevant position holders and ensure CBM Australia documents are current and accurately meet requirements.

Safeguarding (Child Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment)

  • Work with relevant safeguarding focal points to support effective management of individual safeguarding incidents and associated reporting.
  • Lead organisational awareness training on Safeguarding, working collaboratively with focal points across the organisation and Federation.

Compliance Audits, Alliance Standards and Reporting

  • Oversee CBM’s compliance with external regulations and manage all audits, submissions and accreditation assessments in conjunction with the relevant leading staff members at CBM.
  • Maintain current knowledge about our regulatory partners and augment our approaches in line with any changing expectations.

Risk management

  • Lead the management of the organisational risk registers (strategic and organisational), ensuring an effective process for maintenance by risk owners.

This role would be perfect for someone with excellent planning and project management skills, the confidence to work across our organisation to build strong partnering relationships, and the ability to bring new ideas to support the achievement of our objectives.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (i.e. legal, audit, compliance, business, HR) with 3 years’ relevant work experience in leading risk and compliance practices.
  • A belief in embedding compliance into everyday processes, rather than regarding it as a tick box exercise bolted on to everyday business practice.
  • Exceptional planning skills that support an effective project management approach.
  • Proficient in working in a digital technology environment, with interest in streamlining and transforming the way compliance is embedded into business processes.
  • Strong self-motivation, organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise effectively and work independently with minimal supervision while also being a positive team player.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships across the organisation.
  • Experience with an INGO or other organisations where compliance obligations are set by external regulatory bodies.
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of CBM Australia and alignment/comfort with being part of a faith-based organisation.

What we offer:

  • The chance to make an impact that matters in a team of like-minded professionals.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Hybrid role with 2 days in the office.
  • 4 weeks annual leave.
  • 5 additional days of leave.
  • Salary packaging up to $15,900 + up to $2,650 for meals and entertainment.
  • 8 weeks paid parental leave after 12 months of service.
  • A work environment and values-driven culture that employees state in their feedback, is one of the most inclusive, caring, and enjoyable that they have ever worked in.
